Acrylic on Canvas Board
It wasn’t until I was trying to photograph close-ups of forsythia blossoms that I realized just how hard it was to capture what I wanted. There was a lot of space between the clusters, lots of bare branches and not a lot of distinction between the shapes of the petals. And yet, the more I stood back and took in the plant as a whole, it grew more and more beautiful.
This forsythia painting reminds me that small actions, small gestures and small changes can, cumulatively, become something beautiful… whether that’s a community surrounding a grieving person with love, many individuals taking a stand for positive change, or working to better ourselves one small step at a time.
Sometimes our small efforts seem to be making no difference. But they do matter. They do make a difference.
