One October, I found these small “Butter and Eggs” wildflowers growing amidst the dead thistles. Sometimes the world feels full of loss and pain, but if I can find something beautiful and loving to focus on amidst it all, I can take heart.
What I love about this scene is that even the shapes of the dead thistles have their own charm and seem to be cradling the flowers. This reflects my own experience that grief itself was something that connected me to my lost loved ones, and was a sign of the deep love we shared, and so it had its own beauty in an unexpected way.
