I’ve taken many photos of trilliums but I was drawn to paint this one because of the light shining through it. I love how it is semi-transparent, the leaves and petals creating a symmetry like patterns of stained glass.
For me, it captured that rare feeling I’ve had sometimes… moments of joy when everything feels perfect in its imperfection, where my heart feels like it’s aching with the beauty of something, or glowing with love and gratitude… a moment when I feel deeply connected.
You can see a time lapse video of me creating this little trillium study here.
