Sometimes I feel painfully vulnerable, like sensitive roots have been exposed. I think that’s why I was drawn to paint this scene where an old tree’s roots are covered in a beautiful blanket of sunlit moss. I wonder, in what nourishing ways can I wrap myself in comfort and love on hard days?
