Floating in a kayak at the river’s edge, soaking in the beauty all around me, my spirit soaks in calm awareness. I notice the brown and wilted bulrushes that seem to weave through and encircle the green, growing ones. I realize that, like these rushes, I can let wither all those old parts of my character that no longer serve me. But I can still love and appreciate them, for how they helped me survive.
